Last Day From Cross Camp
Winding Things Down
It is Friday afternoon and all the kids are at freetime. We've had a great week here at Cross Camp. I believe that God has been able to do something in the live of all of us. It is my prayer that whatever God has done in each of our lives will be lasting.
Mending Broken Lives
Last night during the worship service and our church devotion time, we focused on the relationships we have with one another in the body of Christ. We are a community of faith. We are to care for one another and support one another. When things get out of balance, as with a disagreement, we are to make it right with one another. Last night was an opporunity to do that. Annette Ford did an interesting thing as part of our devotion. She gave each of us a sock. Not one of those little short dress socks, but one of those long sport socks. We put if on our arm and it looked like a cast, as if we had a broken arm. Then were went around the room and wrote something on each other's "cast." Something positive, something that would affirm. It was a very special and a very affirming time for all of us.
We have one more night of worship and another church devotion time. I'm really looking forward to it to see what God is going to do. I hope all who are reading this will pray for us and God is able to do something really special in our presence.
Traveling Tomorrow (Saturday)
Please be in prayer for us as we travel tomorrow as we head home. We should be home shortly after noon. May God's hand be upon us. We've been praying for you all back home also. We look forward to seeing you all once again. Until then, may God bless each one of us.

Live From Cross Camp Day 2
Everyone is Doing Well
For moms and dads out there, just to let you know your kids are doing well. We're having a great time. Our youth are making new friends and getting to know one another better also. There have been no problems as of yet, which is quite an accomplishment in and of itself with a group like this. Each youth was assigned a "Family Group" by the camp staff. It consists of youth from all churches so that the youth don't stay together all the time. They have bible study together and activities that usually coincide with the bible study of the day. Evening worship, which starts in about an hour, is exciting. Our kids seem to be enjoying that just fine. We also have church group devotion following evening worship.
Devotion Time
The theme for the week is choices. Last night Mrs. Anita (church momma) shared with the kids. One day maybe she'll share with everyone a bad choice that she made as a senior in highschool that lead to her being in a car accident. Tonight is my night to share. Please be in prayer for our kids as they react to one another and to God as He prompts them.
Praying for You All Back Home

Live from Cross Camp
We Arrived Safely
I'm writing from the men and boy's dorm at the University of Central Arkansas, where CrossCamp 2006 is being held. We are in Conway, Arkansas. The weather is fair and not too hot. We arrived on time and are all checked in and we are well fed, having just finished a fine supper. We had orientation this afternoon and everyone seems to be ready for an exciting week.
We have 27 of us here, including 18 youth and 9 adults. Some of the younger and first time youth campers are still a little unsure of themselves, but the will adapt. I and the rest of the adults are ready to see what God is going to do this week with our kids. Please be in prayer for us.
Evening Worship
Our next event is in about27 minutes. We have evening worship. If you have never been to a youth camp worship service, you have really missed something. It is exciting! Many of us aren't really used to the music, but make no mistake, it is about Jesus and is intended to lift our youth to the Lord. It is generally loud and fast. But, it also brings us to worship. Pray that our youth will experience true worship of the Lord this evening.
Day Starts Early
The schedule is full all day long. They really keep you hopping here. We will start our early, well some of us will, with an early morning devotion. Most of our youth will still be asleep when that occurs, but I know that I enjoyed it last year. Pray that all of our youth or most of them anyway will want to join us in this early morning time with the Lord. I'll tell you more about that tomorrow.

Going to the Beach
Just a short note for today. We're getting ready to go to South Padre Island for a day at the beach. We've had a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast and orange juice. Now we're ready! I'm not a big beach fan, but once every 5 years or so is okay. Actually, it's been two years I think since we last went to a beach. That was Holly Beach with you Young at Heart group. We always had fun there, but hurrican Rita took care of that. No more Holly Beach. We miss it.
Anyway, they are all telling me we need to go, so ya'll have a great day and we'll do the same. Maybe I will blog about how the beach was later. See ya in the water!

Live From Texas
We're On Vacation!
We are having a wonderful time in Kingsville, Texas with the family of our oldest son, Matt, and his family: wife Monica, children Morissa, Cody and Abigal. We just got our of the swimming pool. Nothing like a refreshing morning swim. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! It is pretty warm here, but I don't think it is any hotter than it is at home.
Matt and I worked in his yard yesterday morning. He had pruned the limbs of his mesquite trees, then it started raining. He didn't get to mow his yard for a couple of weeks. Soon he had high grass with piles of limbs mixed with them... It was a mess! But, we got it cleaned up. There is still lots to be done, but we got him over the hump.
Yeah, I know....It's Been a While
You may be saying....."Why don't he write?" I guess I got really really lazy... I lost my motivation. Nothing like a little time away to get your mind back in gear. Sure, I miss everyone back home. But is sure is good to get away for some R&R. So, while I'm writing this morning....
Fantastic VBS!!!
We had a great Vacation Bible School a couple of weeks ago. One of the best every I think. We had good average attendance, about 125 or so. And our kids and adults gave a love offering of over $700 for our Louisiana Baptist Children's home and our missionaries to Israel, Timer and Mary Ann Hartley. Great going everyone!! I want to personally thank everyone who lead or helped us in our VBS this year. You all did a awesome job! We're already getting pumped for next year's VBS. We're going to play baseball!!
New Discipleship Training Series
We will begin a new series this coming Lord's Day evening. IT is a study concerning the Kingdom Authority which we have through our Lord Jesus Christ. This is a video series authored by and with Dr. Adrian Rogers. Dr. Rogers has had a tremedous affect upon not only my ministry, but also with my personal walk with the Lord Jesus. I'm really looking forward to this, and I pray many of you will be also.
